Intraocular Lens Power Measurements
East Valley Ophthalmology is
world reknowned for intraocular lens power calculations in unusual
situations. Patients are often referred to us by other
eye surgeons for IOL power calculations prior to various forms
of eye surgery.
If you have received a referral for this service
it is mostly likely due to something atypical about your
eyes that makes standard methods of measurement unreliable
or the calculations difficult. Examples of such conditions include:
- Variable axial length readings
-
An inability to obtain axial length readings
-
Significant difference between right and left eye measurements
-
Prior keratorefractive surgery (LASIK, RK, PRK , CK, LASEK)
-
Prior retinal detachment with, or without, a scleral buckle
-
Eyes containing silicone oil
-
Eyes that are very farsighted or very nearsighted
-
Prior ocular trauma
-
Mature cataracts, with no view of the back of the eye

are either technically too difficult, or the intraocular lens power
calculations are mathematically too complex to be carried out by a general
ophthalmologist.
Dr. Hill is a Medicare provider. Our office will submit a claim for those
services covered by Medicare, but for any non-covered Medicare services,
it is customary for payment to be made on the day of your visit.

be reimbursed by your insurance carrier. we wil provide you with the necessary
insurance forms to send to your health plan, but it is customary for payment
to be made on the day of your visit.
